A few weeks ago I was fortunate to receive an advanced copy of Make it Paleo by The Food Lovers, Bill Staley and Hayley Mason. I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely couple at the #AHS 11 at UCLA in August 2010. They invited me and Balanced Bites over for a wonderful meal. I knew right away when I tasted their food that I would love their new book. They made guacamole with endive boats, simple sea salt and pepper chicken thighs, and perfectly tender grass fed sliders. It was a real food feast and I was in Paleo heaven. I was also inspired by how passionate these two are about food. They want to share that passion with others which come across in person and in the book.
I am a simple cook who uses bold flavors, colors and textures which is why this book speaks to me. If you follow my page you know that I am not really into sweets and I do not go crazy with the nut flour substitutes. Neither do Bill and Hayley, instead they focus on filling recipes with simple ingredients. This book is absolutely beautiful and worth the money. The photos are spectacular and the design is top notch. It is a steal at under $20 because it is the size of an encyclopedia. If you gave it to your grandma she may not even realize what is “missing” (killer grains). This is the perfect holiday gift for a beginner and it has new ideas for people who are long time Paleo followers. I am hoping someone makes me the coconut cake (on p.374) from the book for my upcoming birthday (Dec 19), hint, hint!!
