Natural Remedy to Kill Nail Fungus –

Fungus usually grows from an imbalance bacteria in the gut. It is candida that is naturally occurring but it can overgrow and show up in unfortunate places like nails or toes. It is believed to become overgrown after years of following a Standard American diet including sugar, stress and overuse of antibiotics. Following an anti-inflammatory diet such as Paleo diet can really help but sometimes targeted supplements and herbs are also important.

Garlic: Has been used as a natural anti fungal for thousands of years. It helps to warm up the feet or hands in hot water. Then place mashed garlic on toes in a compress. More details here.

Apple Cider Vinegar: balances skin and kills bacteria and fungus. Mix 1 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup baking soda then soak affected area for 15 minutes. More details here. (order here)

Herbal Oregano: has been used as for healthy nails and immune support for generations and it can still be helpful today.

Coconut oil: Coconut oil feeds good bacteria and supports the immune system. Rub coconut oil daily on nails as preventative and as remedy. (order here)

Probiotics: Heatlhy gut flora can have a big impact on how fungus thrives in and on the body. Taking a healthy dose especially after a round of antibiotics can keep the right bacteria thriving and reduce the wrong types. I like this brands here.

Fermented foods: Fermented foods also support beneficial bacteria and keep harmful candida levels from getting out of control and showing up in nail beds. Just one bite of sauerkraut  or kim chee has millions of helpful critters that will keep your system running at top notch.

Autoimmune Psoriasis is another factor to consider when dealing with what might seem like nail fungus. When the gut is compromised the body begins to attack it self and a common symptom is to have a rash type reaction on the nail beds. A great diet to follow is here to get your body on the mend from the inside out. Many people find relief from autoimmune symptoms when they follow this plan that removes irritating food such as nightshades.

Vitamin D: Often times a lack of vitamin D can show up as skin issues. Make sure to eat Vitamin D rich foods such as pasted eggs, wild salmon and sardines as well as trying to get your levels up to 40-60 ng per dl. It is important to take vitamin d3 suspended in a fat soluble carrier and test yearly with your doctor. (order here)

Candida Cooperation: Candida is a big contributor to nail fungus. Everyone has this yeast in their body but it can grow unchecked from overuse of antibiotics, sugar, alcohol and bread consumption. Adding fermented foods and probiotics can help to get the body back in balance.

Getting rid of nail fungus can be a challenged so work with a knowledgeable practitioner that has experience and don’t guess but test for gut pathogens.

Stress can be another big issue when it comes to your health so take time for self care and relaxation. Make sure to follow a nutrient dense diet free of processed foods and excess carbohydrates which will speed your healing on the journey back to healthy show off nails.
