How to Become A Holistic Nutritionist or Nutrition Consultant –

One of the most common questions I receive is “how does someone become a holistic nutrition consultant?” Since there is so much to cover Mary Vance and I thought it would be a great idea to have a podcast about it. Please let us know if it helps you and don’t be shy to leave us a review on itunes. How to Become A Holistic Nutritionist or Nutrition Consultant

Hi! I checked into the Institute for Integrative Medicine and I was told by two people in the program that your work is not graded or even checked. You can ONLY listen/work on an ipad or iphone (not even a MAC computer). A friend of mine called to ask questions and they said they didn’t like that she has so many questions about the program. I believe they also use a recruiting type program by referrals from current/previous students. So the more people you bring into the program you get some sort of benefit. It all seemed hokey to me. I have searched and searched for an online program and seem to be excited to start at Appalachian State University (Distance Education) and will get a Bachelors in Health Promotion (starting next Summer).

I was interested in listening to your podcast on how to become a nutritionist, yet I was 51% into your program and you had yet to discuss the main subject. Instead, I listened to back and forth chit chat between you and caitlin. I found this video to have absolutely NO focus or main theme what so ever. Instead it rambled on about glasses, microwaves, ect. Highly not recommended.

I too was excited to hear the podcast but found the majority of it was just banter. Where does the actual information about becoming a nutritionist start? I tried fast forwarding a couple times just to hear more banter so I gave up.

Thank you somuch for putting together this podcast! It was very helpful. I am a 45 year old mom of 6 who is looking for an online school to go to to become a holistic nutritionist. I saw your post about this podcast on Facebook, Caitlin, and really wanted to listen. The only thing that I would have loved to be addressed, but wasn’t, was some sort of set of guidelines of what to look for in a school. I have others that I have found but were not mentioned here. Have been wondering which ones may be good to take classes online at and which ones aren’t, such as Trinity School of Natural Health and Kingdom College Natural Health. Thanks again!

Thanks for listening. These are all the ones I know about so I don’t really recommend any others. I know people who are doing or have done all of these programs. I have never heard of those so I can not comment. I would talk to a gradate of those schools to get good info.

Thank you both for doing this podcast! It is great to hear about experiences from the beginning, and to hear the reality of hard work and stumbles along the way. I do have one question; what is the difference between Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Nutritional Therapy Consultant?

Thanks for listening. I mean I think a nutritional therapist is someone who went to Nutritional Therapy Association
      http://nutritionaltherapy.com/about-nta/ school
After that I think it is just people calling themselves whatever they feel fits.

I did go to Integrative Nutrition and honestly, thought it was a waste of my money! There was no accountability and didn’t feel that I learned everything I wanted to. Now, I’m stuck with a $4000+ bill that I don’t even want to pay for because I didn’t feel the education was worth it at all! I wish I would have went through Hawthorn, which I’m thinking I’m going to do anyway. I really felt the main focus was on vegetarian/vegan type diets more than anything and I’m a meat eater for Pete’s sake! I wasn’t impressed at all!! Thanks for the Podcast! And yes, they do give referrals for the school, I wish I would have looked into more schools first, plus I can never get any information out of anyone regarding a discripancy I have with them!!

So sorry that happened Heather. Just take what you can from it and just get started. Don’t let that be an excuse. It is a lifelong learning process and it just keeps on going. You can do it!
