The Paleo Kitchen by Julie Bauer and George Bryant – Review and Giveaway
Julie Bauer of PaleOMG and George Bryant of Civilized Caveman join forces to bring us The Paleo Kitchen: Finding Primal Joy in Modern Cooking. Julie and George really knocked this one out of the park, this cookbook even made it to the New York Times Bestseller list! These guys started their blogs around the same time 3 years ago, they connected online and became friends. Lots of cross promoting and a Paleo FX cooking demo later and they had signed a book deal.
Together, they created a masterpiece. The Paleo Kitchen is full of delicious and unique recipes that are sure to be enjoyed by all levels of paleo. The food photography in this book is great, George did an amazing job. The recipes just jump off the page and beg you to cook them.
I met George at Paleo FX 2012 and Julie at Paleo FX 2014, they both have this amazing energy, you just love them. If you follow their blogs you know what I mean. They each come up with delicious recipes every week to share with their followers. The recipes in this book are unique, just so you know.
The first 70 pages of The Paleo Kitchen are dedicated to getting you ready for the recipes within. Julie and George share their personal paleo success story and in doing so remind you that regardless of what stage you’re in, you too have a story.
The “Tips for Getting Started on Your Paleo Journey” are my favorite part, second to the recipes of course. Julie and George continuously try to get you the reader to have fun throughout the cooking process, they even recommend you “get yourself that kitchen gadget you have been eying for months, buy it and smile”, can you say fun!
The Paleo Kitchen Highlights:
– Julie and George’s personal paleo story
– Tips for getting started on your paleo journey
– Shopping and Cooking Tips
– A guide to kitchen tools and equipment
– A paleo kitchen makeover
– Top four tips for sticking to paleo (very important!)
– Over 100 brand new mouthwatering recipes
– Recipe index with pictures
The 100+ recipes are divided into 11 chapters, from breakfast to pork, chicken and beef dishes and everything in between. With over 100 recipes you are sure to find something right from the get go. Personally, the Cinnamon Chocolate Swirl Banana Bread has been calling my name, I must make it soon. You can too, Julie actually posted this recipe as a sneak peek of the book HERE.
I have decided I must try the following recipes asap: Mongolian Beef over Cauliflower Rice, Pan Seared Rosemary Sage Pork Chops with Apples and Pears, Four Layer Beef and Bacon Casserole, Chocolate Coffee Bread Pudding, and the various Nut Milks. By the way, if you aren’t making your own nut milks you are really missing out.
I believe Julie and George succeeded in “Finding Primal Joy in Modern Cooking”, like many of us in the Paleo world are saying now a days “…caveman would if he could”. Have fun in the kitchen! If you are still on the chicken breast and broccoli version of paleo you are missing out on all the fun that there is to be had. Trust me, you’ll feel like Julie and George are cheering you along the way, and having more enthusiastic cheerleaders is not possible. Get your copy of The Paleo Kitchen today!
