Hi Guys,
I am back again and this time I am writing about clothes in my latest Stitch ix review! I know it is not Paleo food or DIY homemade potions but it is about feeling good in your body and this is really what health is all about. Also this post is about self esteem and feeling proud enough to take pictures in my outfits. There are many times in my life when I didn’t feel confident enough to take pictures in my clothes.
Like the time I weighed 240 lbs (see my picture here) during my senior year of college and I didn’t even want to cross the stage for the diploma. After graduation I lost weight and I was healthy and fit for about 10 years by running marathons and eating veggie burgers. But then all of a sudden my world came crashing down practically overnight…..I gained 20 lbs suddenly and I found out I had low thyroid that was due to Hashimoto’s. I hid from mirrors for a long time and felt like I really didn’t know who I was because I didn’t recognize myself.
It wasn’t until my friend Diane suggested I try Stitch Fix that started to feel good in clothes again. I was holding on to all my smaller clothes that didn’t fit anymore like a cross to bear because I didn’t think I deserved to buy new ones. I thought if I lose weight I will have whole new wardrobe because all the old things will fit me again. But I was really just punishing myself and it was limiting my ability to live in the moment and enjoy life. I was so tired of hiding so I bit the bullet and ordered my first box.
What happened next was really wonderful! I had a whole box of clothes that were flattering and just my style. I did not have to go to the mall to find them under blaring lights and stick figure sales girls. I didn’t have to deal with deciding between clothes for teenagers and mom jeans. The sizes on the clothes didn’t seem to matter as much and I was able to just focus on feeling cute again. I didn’t have to so bad about gaining weight because I liked what I saw in the mirror.
I feel like Stitchfix really helped me get out of a self-esteem slump. I took the clothes with me on trips and I went out to networking events with with new found self assurance. I actually lost some weight since my first Stitch Fix box came so maybe this service can even help you lose weight (read about my first fix here)!
Living in the moment and accepting yourself wherever you are can help you shed some excess baggage whether it be negative self talk, extra weight or whatever is holding you back. For me getting new clothes from Stitch Fix helped me feel good in my body again after becoming ill with thyroid and adrenal issues. Who knows what this box can do for you!
Tips: One thing I found out is that you can ask for clothes made in the USA and they have several ethical and eco friendly options. Just let your stylist know that is important to you.
- Be sure to let your stylist know what you need in your wardrobe. You can even send them pictures of how the clothes looked on you.
- Also they have shoes!
