I recently became interested in learning more about essential oils after being inspired by my friend Vanessa from Healthy Living How To. I wanted to get involved with the very best oils that were not tainted or diluted (which is very common). I am also very concerned about toxic body care products and have written about them many times here and here. It is very important to lower our toxic load from all sources including personal care and cleaning products such as detergent and perfume. This especially applies to common perfumes and air freshener which can contribute to serious health consequences later on in life.
I ordered the premium starter kit from Young Living which is the best deal and the way to save 24% on the price of the oils. I was skeptical at fist but I just thought I would try them for myself and see if I liked the set of essential oils. I liked Young Living becasue it is a 20 year old company that has their own farms around the world.
The kit comes with a wonderful diffuser which makes your home smell so inviting. The best part about diffusing oils is that it can help support good moods and normal energy. I have found that I now rely on my oils to keep me focused for my long and busy day while I am writing my new book.

10 Ways I Have Used Thieves Essential Oil
This post is about 10 ways I have used Thieves essential oils. Thieves is a blend of herbs and botanicals that have been used for thousands of years in Europe for health support. There are many legends and myths about its benefits dating back to medieval times.
My Experience with Thieves:
Thieves Essential Oil quickly became my favorite oil because smells so good and has so many effective uses. This sacred and traditional blend is a blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus and rosemary. I used it all up so fast and had to order more.
There are 3 methods for delivery:
- Aromatic. Aromatic is the process of breathing in the essential oil. This can be done by using an essential oil diffuser, inhaling directly from the bottle or by adding a few drops to hands and cupping over nose and mouth.
- Topical. Topical application is the process of applying essential oil directly to the area of interest along with the ears, hands and feet. Some oils can be applied directly and others need to be diluted with a carrier oil. Oils can also be added to bathwater or in a warm compress.
- Internal. (vitality line only) Internal use can be done by adding essential oil to a liquid and drinking or adding to a capsule and swallowing. (This applies to Young Living 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oil ONLY!)
The formula for the Young Living Essential Oil blend, Thieves, is derived from the aromatic herbs used by the thieves of 15th century France.
10 Ways I Have Used Thieves Essential Oil
1. Just mix a few drops with a cup of water and then swallow. (Only YLEO vitality line can be ingested.)
2. I diffuse it in my Young living diffuser in the morning which fills the whole room with a warm inviting smell that boosts my mood and outlook.
3. I rubbed it on a family members chest with coconut oil to support healthy lung function.
4. I use it as perfume. Just rub it on your temples, neck and ears with a few drops of coconut oil. My husband loves the warm smell. Dilute with avocado oil to make it less warm on the skin.
5. I rubbed it on my muscles after a workout.
6. I put a drop on my tongue when I want something sweet.
7. I added it to my baking soda to make an effective toothpaste for supporting whole mouth health.
8. I added Thieves vitality to a cider or hot tea to improve the taste.
9. It is good to keep for kids who play on the playground to clean their hands.
10. I blended coconut oil and thieves, lemon purification oil and to make a creme to support healthy nails.
